# MPOX-PROBE

MPOX-PROBE is a two-year project funded by the European Commission and EDCTP3, and started on October 1, 2024. The African Institutions involved are: Fondation Congolaise pour la Recherche Médicale (FCRM, Republic of Congo), Société Congolaise pour la Santé mentale (SOCOSAM, Republic of Congo) and  University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN, Democratic Republic of Congo). The European Institutions involved are:  Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC, Spain) and R-Evolution Worldwide (R-EvoWW, Italy). MPOX-PROBE is committed to strengthen epidemiological, genomic and community surveillance of Mpox virus (MPXV) at the Congo River border for DRC and RoC, through (1) the improvement of epidemiological surveillance of Mpox with new diagnostics and sampling efforts including high-risk areas and vulnerable populations; (2) capacity building to improve diagnostic and research capacities of researchers and public health workers in DRC and RoC; (3) the strengthening of public health response by sharing surveillance data and newly developed spatiotemporal risk and transmission models for Mpox
