As part of the ongoing research on the socio-ecological and behavioural determinants of Mpox in the Republic of Congo, a training session for data collectors was conducted from 25 to 27 June 2025 in Impfondo, Likouala Department. The activity took place at the Departmental Directorate of Health Services and Care (DDSSSa) and was coordinated by the Fondation Congolaise pour la Recherche Médicale (FCRM) and the Center for Public Health Emergency Operations (COUSP), in collaboration with Africa CDC.

The primary goal of the training was to ensure that all participating data collectors were adequately equipped to conduct interviews and collect high-quality data during the Mpox study.
Specific objectives included:
• Introducing the study protocol and fieldwork methodology;
• Training on the use of quantitative survey tools and qualitative interview guides;
• Building practical skills in interview techniques and community engagement;
• Familiarizing participants with REDCap for mobile data collection;
• Conducting a live field test and providing close supervision during initial data collection.
Overview of training:
The training lasted three days and focused on several aspects such as reviewing the quantitative questionnaire, orientation on the REDCap mobile platform, hands-on training and field simulation, a refresher on key principles of ethical data collection and real-time field supervision.
Through a structured approach combining knowledge transfer, practical application, and supervisory oversight, the data collectors are now well-prepared to engage with communities and gather reliable, high-quality data.
Their active participation and commitment are essential for the success of the study and for strengthening public health research capacity in Likouala and beyond.
